Reor is a free French mobile app that helps students and professionals choose their path or change direction. It offers 22 hand-written guides, from student to student, quizzes to remember what matters and podcasts with student stories. It's coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.
Yes. The app is free with no in-app purchases: every guide is open to you. It shows ads, which are non-personalised by default.
Start by taking stock of what you like and dislike about your studies, then look into the courses that interest you and the transfer routes available. Your institution's guidance service can help. In Reor, the guide “Changing direction: where do you start?” takes you through it step by step.
Often, yes: in France, some universities and schools accept a change of programme during the year or at the start of the second semester. Conditions vary between institutions, so check with your current institution and the one you're aiming for.
A transfer route lets you join another programme without starting from scratch, for example entering a French grande école after a bachelor's degree through parallel admissions. The guide “Transfer routes between study programmes” explains the options.
VAE (validation des acquis de l'expérience) is a French scheme that lets you obtain all or part of a qualification based on your professional or volunteer experience related to it. A gap year can help you step back, work, travel or volunteer before going back to your studies. In French higher education, you request it from your institution, which then guarantees your re-enrolment. The guide “Taking a break from your studies” helps you prepare.
